I think I have some type of virus or something. Im running vista 32 bit and my DVD drive seems to work fine. It can play CDs, DVDs and burn CDs. I have a windows vista sysytem disk that came with my pc, If I stick the disk in another pc it works just fine, I can browse all files and stuff. Well when I try and stick the system disk into my DVD player it wont even recognize it at all. It wont let me browse the files, it tells me there is no disk inserted at all. I have tried booting from the disk before the hard drive and that dont work either. I hooked up my brothers DVD player to my pc and it has the same problem it wont run the disk. So I ordered a new disk and the new disk has the same problem, it wont run in my PC at all. So I have a working DVD player that will play anything I put into it and a 2 system disc's one brand new, but together they dont work. Can anyone please help me? im willing to try anything.

Sounds like either the SATA / IDE controller has a problem with the driver or chipset driver. Are you sure you are using a DVD drive ?.

Can you boot from the DVD rather than trying to browse the files from Windows ?
