Does anyone have an idea what the minimum system requirements are for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2?
Reason for asking is I don't want to prematurely drop lots of $$$ into a new PC upgrade if my system can run the game with no problems, so is Modern Warfare 2 worth the upgrade..

Current system:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache
EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 nForce 680i SLI
2 EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS Superclocked Video Card - 640MB GDDR3 in Sli mode
OCZ SLI-Ready Dual Channel 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory
Creative PCI Express X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series sound card
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit
Sceptre X22HG-Naga 22" LCD Monitor Max resolution 1680x1050.

Thanks

I don't believe the requirements are out yet, but I can't imagine it would be much more demanding than MW1, also, what resolution are you running? That will really be the deciding factor as to whether or not you need an upgrade.

Hey Ominous,

I currently have a Sceptre X22HG-Naga 22'"Monitor and for example I am running Left4Dead at the max res which is 1680x1050. I had no issues playing Call of Duty World At War at this resolution also..

i doubt you would need an upgrade, your computer is very fast as is

Think about an upgrade after the games come out. Till it comes out no one knows really. If it's similar to CoD4, then yes, you won't need an upgrade.

Ideally I would like to purchase the below items, but these alone are nearly $1300.
It's a lot of $$ to drop and the fact that I only have a 22" monitor, wouldn't these be overkill?

EVGA GeForce GTX 295 CO-OP FTW Edition Video Card - 1792MB DDR3, PCI-Express 2.0, 480 Cores, PCI-Express 2.0, Dual DVI, Quad SLI

EVGA X58 SLI LE Motherboard - LGA 1366

Intel Core i7 950 Processor BX80601950 - 3.06GHz

If you wait till the game is out you'll know 2 things:
(1) if your current system is fast enough as is....
(2) or be able to estimate how much of an upgrade you need to make it perform the way you want.

Absolutely true. I won't know until I actually install the game. Unfortunately, I always like to be prepared before hand :o)

You should be fine then Cleetus, as I said before MW2 will most likely not be more demanding than MW1 and since you're running WAW just fine your system should preform admirably with MW2.

Also, this is super ultra mega overkill at 1680x1050

My advice, just wait and see how it runs, it really should run great on your current system.

But if you decide you want to upgrade down the road, and you've got the cash to spend, go 1920x1200, gt300 series, and i7

Do you know when the GT 300 series is due for release. Will these be DX 11 cards?

Information on them is mostly speculation or rumors, but from what I've read they should be DX 11 cards, and probably Q1 of 2010
