Hi all the is my first post on the website but not my first time here, because i always find my Answer when i need it on this site. I have (well) had a 300GB WD raptor drive but it died on me :( I am a videographer and i had important video files that I need on the hard drive so I called multiple data recover services and nearly died....starting at $900 bucks your kidding me right, well I took the drive apart and found the problem a burnt IC. So I called WD and they said they only replace and not repair so im out of luck if I want my data. So went to buy the same drive but the newer one is made different so im still out of luck. Looked on ebay..no luck...so Im here, where can I find hard drive PCB boards?

If your board does not have an 8-pin serial flash memory chip at location U12 near the Marvell MCU (big "M"), then a replacement board won't help you. The reason is that this chip stores unique, drive specific "adaptive" information that need to transferred from patient to donor. If your U12 is vacant, then the adaptives will be stored within the MCU. Any board supplier that doesn't tell you this should not be trusted.

Moreover, your SMOOTH motor controller also controls the onboard power supplies for the MCU (Vcore & Vio) and the negative (-5V ?) supply for the preamp inside the HDA. The burn marks are on the side that controls these voltages, which means that there are serious concerns for those essential components that are powered...

So what would be your first step into fixing this problem?

Otherwise, there are DIY solutions, but you will need to purchase a software tool such as WDR-UDMA or WD HD Pro:

The above tools will enable you to reprogram U12 on a donor PCB using data retrieved from the Service Area on the platters of the patient HDD.

The above procedures demonstrate Salvation Data's HD Doctor for WD which costs around US$600, but you could resell the tool for US$300. The cheaper tools will do the same thing.
