Hello,
Recently I had to do a complete restore (wipe the hard drive and re-install windows XP)
Anyway, I cannot install any standalone service packs, when it extracts i am told the file is corrupt(no error code).
I cannot access the support.windows.com for automatic updates.
Now, when i try to install an ethernet controller, it tells me it cannot install from iuident.cab, which i learned is directly associated with windows update.
The file is located at C:\Program Files\Windows Update\ V.
The file is only 2k large, and contaions some basic HTMl code.
I am wondering if there is anyplace to download a standalone version of this iuident.cab without accessing the windows update site.
Any other advice will also be graciously accepted.
Thanks in advance.

See if this will get your updates running.
Start > Run > regsvr32 wuaueng.dll

or troubleshoot the self update.
