Hi all new to the forums, just need some advice/help on a second build. I've looked at the i5 and i7 and 1366 chipsets and 1156. My current/ex build was a q6600, GT9800 512mb, 4gb xms2 ram, 2.5tb(only keeping 1tb) in an antec 900.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Within 1 Month - No more than £800

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, Movies(Already have 1tb HD), Adobe CS4

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Monitor, speakers

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: www.aria.co.uk / www.ebuyer.com COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: United Kingdom

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel chips if reccomended

OVERCLOCKING: Yes - If doable SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Unsure

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1200 on a Hanns G - 28"

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Big Case - Quiet case. Something bigger than an Antec 900. Possibly using a series of smaller drives in Raid for OS/Programs. Friend having trouble with an intel SSD so unsure. Will be running windows 7

Thanks all,

James

Didn't include an HDD since you said you already have one. Do you have an OS?

Ya have vista business and getting 7 soon, within a month.

Ideally I'd like to use some sort of raid setup for my main harddrive/program disk, might be able to afford some extra hdd's.

Would you reccomend several smaller hard drives in raid, or just get a SSD? I think i average around 90-110mb/sec on my samsung spinpoint F1's at the moment. I will most probably use my existing 1tb f1 for storage and get another tb or 2, for further storage.

Also is there any major difference between the f1/2/3?

Thanks for helping out with this, other comments/suggestions or builds reccomended too!

Cheers,
Jam

Well F2's are basically the "green" hard drives and the F3's are the new version of the F1's. Dual 500GB platters instead of three 333GB platters. Average read for the F3 is about 110MB/sec and the F1 is around 94MB/sec.

Also for some reason I saw the F3 cheaper than an F1. So now I have two of em. :D

cheers toaster! bollocks to that Eco crap!

Hmm still what to do with Raid on several small capacity hard drives or a SSD...
