I just built a new computer and it freezes up after entering the OS from the motherboard start up menu. The first time it got to the install XP but froze when at the screen where it says press r for repair, enter for install and f3 to quit. That was the first time it froze, after that it doesnt even get to the install screen, it freezes up with just a blank cursor. Also, I thought the problem could be that it says "no hard drive detected" but I switched the hard drive from SATA port 6 to SATA port 1 thinking it would help but it didnt. After that a friend informed that it's just not detecting an IDE hard drive.
I searched the mobo options but to no avail, I found nothing that looks like it could solve the problem. I don't think the problem is that it's not finding the hard drive but something else. Also, the hard drive is listed in the BIOS. SATA is set to IDE mode in the bios.
Wondering if overheating can be attributed to my problems; is 48* normal for an i7 core?
If its of any importance the specs are as follows:
A friend of mine had a similar problem with his AMD Phenom about a year ago. The only difference between your problem and his are the specs (obviously).
Although it may be something completely un-related, we resolved his issue with a new PSU - he had a 500W when his machine needed a 750W (plus, he had a no-name brand PSU).
If your machine keeps freezing at a particular point, perhaps it can't draw enough powe to do what you want it to do.
What PSU do you have?
Cheers,

Well, I'm no expert on RAID (in fact, I've no idea what it is - good thing to look up ), but the boot to CD ROM and PS2 keyboard do help.
It's actually quite sad that motherboards don't convert the signal of USB keyboards to PS2. The only excuse I can see is that USB is universal, and it could accidentally convert a flash drive to PS2 by mistake.
But I'm glad to hear that it's all working again .
