Well, heres the deal. I received an offer on my old PC and it was too good to turn down. So i took that money and built the system that im Currently using. The new PC is all of 3 days old.

Intel Core Duo Quad Q9550
Asus P5Q Deluxe mobo
gSkill 4gb Ripjaw DDR2 1200 RAM
x2 Sapphire HD4870 1gb in Crossfire
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler
Cooler Master Storm Scout Case
Seagate 500gb HDD
Corsair 750watt PSU

I had to build kind of fast as my old PC was leaving and I cant live without one. . but my real question is, how future proof is this current PC.

With Intel i7, DDR3 ram, and Windows 7 w/ dx11 around the corner Im just hoping that I didnt jump the gun on a 1k dollar build that will be antiquated in a year, because im one of those 'upgrade in about 3 years' people lol

Yes, you could have done better with your money, however your system will still offer good performance. If it really concerns you, you could try to sell the parts separately on ebay.

If you had asked here before building there might have been some tweaks.
Maybe single 5850 and i5/750 in P55MB for example.

It's not a bad build at all. Should be a strong system over 3 years.
If's far too early to think about selling it off though.

Your built will go the distance for (3) years - I looked at the q9550, decided to spend the extra money and go I7 920. The I5 is another good choice.

Good luck - Make it Happen!

as long as i get 3 years out of it I cant really complain.

I would have loved to go i7 but i would have had to skimp on other parts to bend it to my budget

the i5 is bout the same price as a q9550
