due to the upcoming windows 7 release i was planning to upgrade my main machine.
currently running a core2duo and desperately need to make the jump to 4 cores and maybe SSD.
will be spending about £300-650 and shall only be looking at upgrading the core of the machine, (read as cpu, ram and MB)
the question is do i wait until the new year for prices to mature (due to the large amount of new hardware out) or take the jump and get a core i5 system.
the new intel drives look good too. the 80gb X-25s are very reasonable at ~£170 but i am currently getting approx 130-160mb read from my raid array. £170 for an extra 100 mb per second for the OS alone does not seem to equate to enough of a reason to make the jump.
Are others having these thoughts?

Windows 7 should run fine on your current machine. If your current PC's performance is alright for you, then yes your better off waiting, especially on the SSD.
