Instead of setting up a cisco 2511 terminal server, I was hoping that there might be some inexpensive pci cards on the market that have several serial ports (about 8) or even better a pci card that would I could plug a cisco octal cable into: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk [...] a10.shtml.

Of course the system I'd throw it into is an Ubuntu server with ssh access, so I'd need compatibility in that respect. Looking forward to suggestions, thanks!
