I accidentally overwrote something on my external flash drive

Hello,
Okay I accidentally overwrote something imprtant that i had on an external harddrive n now the harddrive won't give me back the correct document. What can I do to get this document back? Is ythere any way to get it back? And please I need something that is free, nothing that I would have to pay for downloading it and trying to help myself. Thank you in advance!

ok thank you i checked out th site but it didnt rlly hav wat i needed almost all of the websites tht they told my about make me pay money or didnt work but thank you anyway n i think tht that website may have some other suggestions so ill keep searching around.
