Western Digital SATA 500gb 8mb (WD5000AAKS-22YGA0)
This disk was working fine for 2yrs in previous system. Always as secondary storage drive 1 partition only, never used as bootable.

Now in new rig (see sig) I couldn't use it straight away.
BIOS recognize it, Windows doesn't. Disk Management says "foreign disk". Ok here I just had to right click and select "import foreign disk" and it's all fine I can use the drive.

Now stuck it to external USB Akasa HDD reader to my laptop and Disk Management says "invalid disk" ?
There is option "convert to basic disk" but it warns me about loosing data if proceed.

Doesn't make any strange noise at least.

It's full 480gb of holidays photos and videos so help me save happy sunny memories!

Maybe some (free?) software could investigate it, save the files before trying to format? Tried EaseUs Home edition but no go. It see Unallocated space 496GB but cannot run Partition Recovery Wizard because "No unallocated partition found!"

yea thats whole story for now :kaola:
