Ok,

Like the title says I have a gtx 260 and two 9600's running in sli.

Comp Specs:

Mobo: asus p6t deluxe v2
core i7 920
corsair 6gb 1600mghz
nothing else is relevant....

Displays:
hannsg 27.5 in res: 1920 X 1200
dell 19 in res: 1024 X 1280

OS: Win 7, XP, Ubuntu, mac osx leopard

I just picked up the two 9600's and all runs well on two monitors. Im a little confused on phsyx and cuda? Also what is the best configuration with these cards for gaming? Lastly, any input on fun and uberly geeky things to do with this much video card power would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Brown, B.

Really? Bump...

The best configuration for games is: 260GTX for gaming and 1 9600 GT for physics. The other 9600 GT is pointless.

Thank you for your input. But suppose I add two more monitors. Would the third card be worth it? Also, would it be competitively similar or even possible to use the 9600's in sli and the 260 gtx as dedicated physx card?

9600 GT sli is slower than 260 GTX so that would be a waste. If you want to add 2 more monitors then you would need to un-sli the 9600 GT with the result:
260 GTX for gaming, 1 9600 for physics, 1 9600 to power the other 2 monitors.

Ok, but suppose I have a virtual machine running windows xp, and it is dedicated to the monitor connected to the 9600's in SLI. Now on my virtual machine I have Gears of War running and on my actual machine I have Gears of War running(playing LAN games between the two).

Then you still think the SLI is useless?

Good luck running multiple virtual machines like that. Just so you know, the CPU and RAM are also used in a virtual machine, and assuming you don't have a dual cpu socket mother board with 8+gb of ram, its not going to work.

As people have said, sell one of the 9600gt's and use the other for physX while you use the 260 as the actual video card.

I am aware of how virtual machines work. I'm not running multiple virtual machines, just one. I think it should work just fine. Testing later today.
