What Part Should I Upgrade First

Hi guys,

Thanks in advance for any help. Currently playing Crysis and Aion and was hoping you could help me figure out which part is in most need of upgrading, and what a good upgrade would be.

Current system:

Case: RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WBP Black 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case With 500W Power Supply - Retail ( I am currently using the stock 500W Power Supply that came with it ).

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard - Retail

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6750 - Retail

Ram: A-DATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model ADQVE1A16K - Retail ( I have upgraded this to 4 GB now )

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Graphics Card: EVGA 512-P3-N801-AR GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I AM on a budget so cannot upgrade the entire system. Looking for the most needed 1 or possibly 2 parts.

More about what part upgrade first
  1. budget?
  2. Maybe $300 max.
  3. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.274497

    5770 + antec 650 watts $225

    Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120 mm Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler W/TX-2 $35 but $19.99 amir

clock your cpu a bit here is a good guide http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/page-240001_11_0.html
  4. Have to side with Obsidian86, that is some good advice. I don't believe raidmax is known for making good PSU's, and the 5770 is suppose to be decently powerful, and OCing that CPU will definately bring out a lot more potential.

Beyond that I can't even think of anything else that you would need.
  5. I forgot to mention that I have already OC'd the CPU to about 3.0.

Thanks for the advice guys, I knew the PSU would likely be a needed upgrade heh, the Raidmax version got some bad reviews.

So the consensus is upgrade the GPU before CPU eh? Interesting.
  6. yeah a gpu holds more sway over a gaming then a cpu
