bought some CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 2x2gb 1600 9-9-9-24 1.65v kit a few days ago. before first boot, i adjusted timings and voltaje from the bios, fsb:dram to 1:4 (fsb is at 200) and everything went fine, installed windows, antivirus and some games, 20 minutes into gameplay then BLUE SCREEN.

i reboot and go straight into prime95, start a blend test and after 10 seconds there's an error and the test stops. then i set everything back to default in the bios, except my phenom ii @ 3.6 on multi alone

with the memories at 1333, i pass prime95 then memtest for 2 hours each without a single error, several hours of gaming without a hiccup, the problem is that i paid for 1600 CAS9 modules, i would have saved myself 20 bucks if i knew that they wouldn't work at 1600.

any ideas on what could it be? i see the 1600 profile as XMP on cpuz, could that be an issue as i have amd? did i got bad sticks?

specs:

msi 790fx gd70
phenom ii 955@3.6 vstock
CMX4GX3M2A1600C9
sapphire 5850
wd caviar blue 500
corsair tx750
sony optiarc 24x

Thanks in advance

I'm having the same problem. I upgraded in January with a Msi 980a mobo, Amd 965 Cpu, DDR3 G.Skill Ripjaw 2x2GB 1600 9-9-9-24 1.5v. After I replaced the stock cpu cooler with a Zalman 9900 I used Prime95 to test heat. Prime95 failed after a few minutes. Set Ram back to 1333 and it passed. Memtest86+ found errors at 1600 so went back down to 1333 and not a single error. Cpu-z indicates the right timmings and voltage when at 1600 or 1333. When I run RAM at 1600 my computer frezzes from time to time and more so when I'm running linux. I would appreciate any thoughts.

MSI NF980-G65
AMD Phenom II X4 965 125W 3.4 w/ZALMAN CNPS9900
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
WD caviar black 1TB
Evga 8800GT SLi
Tagan Bz 800W PSU
