I was thinking of setting up a home theatre system using a computer, and was wondering if i could use a tv instead of a monitor, i know video cards have tv out, but what kind of quality would i get from a tv and what would i have to pay for a good 25-27" tv that could double as a monitor

TV's make extremely poor monitors for a few reasons. The resolution of a TV is very low compared to a standard computer monitor. The dot pitch of a TV is 2 – 5 times looser than a computer monitor. TV’s run a low refresh rate. You typically do not see flicker on a TV because the image is always moving. However you will notice flicker on a stable computer image almost immediately.

Good Luck
