I need advice for the best card to get for a Xeon quad-core with max memory running Vista (Win 7 soon). I do a lot of mapping with Arcview GIS and the refresh rates when redrawing a screen with multiple air photos or topographic maps is too slow. I now have an Nvidia Quadro NVS 290.

This is a work computer and so I don't do gaming or any other 3D stuff. Is an Nvidia FX 1800 overkill or just about right? How about a Radeon equivalent?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!
