O S XP Pro neigborhood Power went off for a instant came back on and my Monitor did not work anymore and got a corrupt \windows\system32\config\system error --have a Dell reinstallation cd xp home edition service pack 2, but the P C is a old 8665C H P Pavilion, but can't get past the C to do a Partion

Can you explain exactly what you see - "can't get past the C" does nothing for me !


Maybe this: When all the partitions are deleted, select the remaining non-partitioned space, and then press C to create the new partition.

One OEM's CD won't work in another systems so that's why you can't even get to the format stage, which is after files begin to load and you accept the EULA. You need a proper MS XP CD then after installing, go through the telephone activation process to give them the Product Key from the CoA label on the case.
