Hi,
I was confused between 2.4 Ghz 3mb L2 core 2 duo & 2.8 Ghz 6mb L2 core 2 duo processors for configuring a Thinkpad T500 Laptop.(Both FSB 1066)
My primary use would be running VMWare with Linux and Solaris as guest OS..(with Oracle DB on it)simultaneously. Also I plan to run Java based apps.
Can you suggest me whether to go for 2.4 or 2.8 and also what RAM size to go for. The board supports upto 8gb ddr3.
Thanks .....

I'd recommend you go i3 or with an Athlon II X3. Just me. If you need to stay on the same platform then the only Core 2 Duo I can recommend right now is the E8400.

It's a laptop . . .

If running VMware and 2 VMS with Oracle, 4 GB is recommended.
