i have an original sony 30 hour series I tivo.

years ago i followed hinsdale and successfully added a 120gb (5400) as Drive
A and moved the original 30gb as Drive B.

anyway, all of a sudden the unit starts to randomly pause and thus it's time
to swap drives.

I'm hoping to do this w/o losing the recordings.

i don't know if it's Drive A (120) or B (30) failing, but i'm going to
assume it's B and i'm going to replace B with a new 80 Gb Drive. If it turns
out that A was the bad drive (i'll know this after i put everything back in
the tivo to test) i'll go thru the entire process again and swap the 120
with a new 120 and leave the 80 as B.

I'm following Hinsdale and using mfstools 2.0.

I've made the backup image and it' stored on my computer on a fat32
partition created with partition magic. i'm using XP.

question:

do i simply now proceed to "Upgrade configuration #4"? and the section
labeled:"Replacing your existing B drive with the new larger upgrade drive"?

in other words, i can proceed directly to:
dd if=dev/hdb of=/dev/hdc bs=1024k

i'm asking because i don't quite understand the Swap file passage in that
section (page 19 of 26). I don't know if the swap file was ever changed, or
if it needs to be or how i would go about doing it w/o losing recordings.

is there a recommended way for me to proceed? thanks
