i know that two 4890 would outperform a single 5870 but i was wondering if it would be a waste as the two 4890's wouldnt utilize the dx 11 in future gamess :S

so would really appreicate replies :D

Personally I would go for the 5870, which might not have better maximum framerates, but should have higher minimum framerates, and with the 950W PSU (hopefully a reliable one), would allow you to easily add another one later, if/when you felt like it or could afford it or if/when a single 5870 wasn't quite up to scratch anymore, which will be quite a while.

Single GPU uses less power, generates less heat, gets you DX11 and lets you expand in the future if you need. The dual GPU is better frame rates now at greater long term expense.

I would go with build number 2 as well. Although these setups may be more than your actual needs. What are your intentions for your computer? And what resolution is your monitor?

my intentions are some hardcore gaming :D, and my screen is 19 inch and i will put resolution as 1680×1050 but as i have not got the computer yet and wont do til christmas, that resolution is a guess but wouldnt wonder why i would want more
