Well i have come down to three choices... EVGA E758 3-Way SLI, ASUS P6TD Deluxe, ASUS Rampage II Extreme. MY plan is to get a 5870 for now and CF later or two 5850's right now, and more then likely a sound card My question is which one of these boards would have the best slot config for me with CF and a sound card??? Also i plan to O.C. but nothing insane.

The EVGA have more rating, and the specifications are more balanced with the price, the Rampage II is to expensive and only can OC your memory to 1800, and the P6TD have the most posibility or OC memory 2000, so, IMO the EVGA is the best option price/performance. For now, get a 5870 till the GTX300 get out to the market and we can see the performance, after this, you can re-sell the 5870 and buy some monster GTX300 or buy another 5870.

thx for replying saint i'm actually leaning toward the evga myself right now, but my question was more in reference to which one has a better slot config that can fit two big grfx cards and a sound card nicely.

Ohh, sorry. Looking the pictures, the EVGA have a good space for install 2 GPU and a sound card. Maybe the rampage II is a second option, but the 2 GPU and the sound card could be adjust.

Ok so here is my current thinking on my build everyone let me know what you think.

COOLER MASTER Storm Sniper case

i7 920 W/cooler master V8

EVGA E758 3-Way SLI mobo

mushkin 6GB DDR3 1600

Radeon HD 5870 (probably 2x in CF later on)

300gb velociraptor

30 gb ssd (for OS)

CORSAIR 1000HX psu

Any suggestions or comments would be great seeing as im prolly goona order everything at the end of the week..........

I would recommend against the Velociraptor in favor of a Spinpoint F3 (it will complement the SSD very well),
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] f3%20500gb

This PSU will be fine
Antec TruePower New TP-750 750W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817371025

And go with this cooler
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 compatible RR-B10-212P-GP 120mm "heatpipe direct contact" Long life sleeve
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835103065

Also, what SSD is that exactly

Finally, what res are you playing at to necessitate crossfiring 5870s?

well I have the Acer G24 monitor which is 1920x1200
the ssd i was looking at is the OCZ Vertex 30gb

Reply to manbeasty

The OCZ is nice, as is that monitor, and I definitely not recommending against crossfire if you can afford it, but at that resolution, one 5870 would be more than enough.

that is for a cpu heavy game, games that depend more on gpu dont do so well right??

Reply to manbeasty

They still do very well though, 60fps at maximum res, maximum settings is nothing to scoff at:

Way to take advice lol

Do not buy a VelociRaptor or 1000HX unless you like burning money. The Samsung F3 drive suggested above is just as fast as the VelociRaptor for a lot less money. You also don't need a 1000W PSU. The 750W PSU recommended above will power your system just fine even if you go with crossfire 5870's.

^+1, I thought we convinced you of that before, but I guess not.
