I am interested in building a system with a Tesla C1060 to utilize its parallel processing capability with MATLAB. But I also want to install a gamer level graphics card such as the Radeon 5870. Does anyone know if these two cards will conflict?

The spec calls for a general purpose GPU (naturally enough an nVidia Quadro FX) into your rig first, then a Tesla card.

In the last few weeks nVidia have released a card that does both functions (well, I hope). There is also an open source movement afoot that provides a framework, source code and training in OpenCL. It's too early to tell for sure, but it looks like it would bring GPU programming down to Mere Mortals and eventually bring CUDA-like functionality to the Radeon. Good luck with your studies, TheCodeToad.
