Which is dead

Earlier, I found that my fan had failed on me and my CPU overheated to about 100c. The computer won't start now. Is it possible that both my CPU and mobo are fried? I 'was' using a q9550 quad core on a Asus S2F motherboard. The last temperature reading I received on my motherboard was about 20c. How can I be sure that either one is done or both?

What fan is failed? CPU HSF? Are u using the stock cooler?
U can try your cpu on another computer to make it sure...

It's the CPU fan, a thermaltake spinq fan. My family and friends all use laptops and I know no one that even has a desktop computer, let alone a socket 775. Would a dead CPU show anything on a poster?

Okay, first try to unplug all of your ram and start your computer, what would happen? If it make sounds beeps repeatedly then i assume your mobo is still work...

I'm receiving nothing on the mobo's poster. I'll buy a new one and see what I can do. I have a feeling both might be kapoot.
