Hey guys. Just asking what you guys think who will take the six core battle. Intel took the the single core's with their p4 and everyone thought that intel was king till AMD owned intel in dual cores. The intel destroys AMD in the quad-core battles. This is starting to look like a pattern....... Anyway just feel free to say your opinions. AND JUST BECAUSE I DON'T REPLY TO A THREAD 5 MINUTES LATER DOSEN'T MEAN I'M STARTING A FLAME WAR. *Ahem *ahem -" Gtx 380 to own ATI?"

It really depends when they show up, and if AMDs hexacore can beat an i7, hopefully it can, if not then the war is lost and AMD can just shoot for server chips and mid-budget range. We already know that intels hexacore is going to be obscenely expensive since its planed to be an extreme edition, so if AMD's hexacore can beat an i7 920 i think it will shake the field up a bit, assuming it gets out before intel's next wave.

AMD's X6 is going to be little more than a 45nm K10 processor just as the current X4 is. With 2 additional cores power consumption will be higher and so will heat out put when compared to the Phenom II X4, so expect lower stock clock speeds and lower overclocked speeds. Mean while Intel's X6 will be on their new 32nm process, on an architecture already more efficient than K10, and without a doubt clocked much higher.

AMD 6 core doesn't stand a chance against Intel 6 core, personally I'm just hoping AMD's 6 core can compete against I7 in multithreaded applications.

Even in the server market it would have trouble thanks to Core i7s tri channel DDR3 memory and much faster interconnect.

Plus a Core i7 six core is more efficient at the same speed than a Core i7 quad core...........

What? P4s couldn't compete with the Athlons of the time (OK, so early P4s were OK, but as time went on, AMD became a much better choice than Intel for single cores).

Again, not so fast. AMD beat the Pentium Ds, but Intel's Core 2 Duos absolutely FLATTENED the dual core Athlons when they came out.

True for the most part, although the Phenom II is a darn good choice for the money. Intel gets the crown for pure speed though.

As far as the hexacores go, AMD doesn't have anything coming out soon that will match Gulftown. Bulldozer is intriguing, but it is also a ways off.

hhehe, we will see who wins...

Will discuss it & see actual results when the real thing is here....For now its all speculative discussion

The performance gap between Intel's best Hex vs AMD's best Hex will be more in favour of Intel than is currently the case with Quads.

Having said that, Intel won't be kind on pricing.

Lol are any programs going to even use 6 cores in the next 2 years?

Also, zip, I'm confused by who your hateful post was directed towards, seemed a bit out there if you ask me.

Most encoding software uses more than 6 cores.

You gotta learn to ignore zip most of his posts are condescending.
