Hello,I have a sil 3112 pci to sata card on a p3 MB,which is only
IDE.Xp sp3 detects and installs the card when booted up. but i cannot boot from Using sata dvd rw drive attached to it.choosing SCSI or any other at boot sequence did not help.Installing Drivers from XP F6 menu looks to help for booting HDD, but i cannot boot from XP cd without using IDE ROM.THANKS FOR ANY HELP TO DETECT SATA DVD DRIVE AS A BOOTABLE DRIVE AT BOOTUP.THANK YOU

Solution
It sounds like your board does not have native SATA. If that is the case your board is not likely to have a setting that will allow you to boot from SATA.
