Hello

I have decided to build a computer instead of upgrading the Dell. Which processor would be good to get for gaming. I will use Intel. My price for the total system is about 1000-1500 dollars.

The most important part in your gaming pc will be the gpu. I would go with the Radeon HD 5850 or put out an extra $100 for the 5870. Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161302
I would also go with a good 750w power supply so that if you would like to do crossfire later you can. Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006

Considering you want an intel chip you can go with the I5 because in game it performs just as well as the I7. If you pick out parts and find that you have extra money I would switch to the I7. Also I would buy at least 4gb of ram.

Well the common brands recommended on here are Asus and gigabyte.

Question are you going to be doing SLI/Crossfire with your system or a single gpu system?

(both of these motherboards have USB 3.0 ports on them)

Single Gpu motherboard:

Multi: gpu motherboard:

These 2 motherboards i chose because to me, i think there a good price.
