This is what I would make with a $600 budget (though I ran $34 over, or $24 including rebate, can probably shave an additional $15 by using lesser but still good ram if you are that concerned about the budget, and for I think it was close to $20 more there was a combo with the CPU with a different mobo that had Crossfire)

SAMSUNG Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD Burner - OEM : $31
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Antec Sonata III 500 Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply - Retail : $110 (just a personal preference as I had 2 thermaltake PSU's blow out on me)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive : $55
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

HIS H577F1GDG Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail : $160
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH - Retail : $90 (can easily swap for cheaper ram if your worried about budget without taking much of a hit in performance)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Black Processor Model HDZ720WFGIBOX - Retail : $120
GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail : $80
Combo discount -$10, Mail in -$10, Total combo price $178
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

Subtotal: $634.94
After rebate: $624.94

BTW shipping isn't all that bad as the big heavy case/psu has free shipping. (and for refernce shipping just the thermaltake case and PSU cost me $25 to ship that alone so I saved $30 that way, so it adds up quick)

And yes i do need a Monitor..19 would be good...guess a good cheap one..lol

Plus would i need to buy extra fans for the case..or it has good air flow.
October 20, 2009 9:23:16 PM

So the monitor is included in the $600 budget? Yes you could use the 4850 if you're just getting a 19" monitor and need to save the $30. The specs on that Crucial RAM are pretty poor. CAS 6 DDR2 800 RAM is not impressive. The build recommended by assasin32 requires DDR3 RAM.

What OS will you be using? It's pretty weird to see 2GB on a new build. I know you said you would upgrade to 4GB, but a 2x2GB setup is much better than a 4x1GB setup if there's any way to swing it.

Adding in the monitor to the $600 budget, changes things a bit

Looks, good, but my understanding was that the monitor had to be included in the budget, and you've already blown the $600 max with just the above parts.

Edit: nvm, you answered this while I was posting.

You won't get to use all 4GB of RAM with a 32-bit OS. Do you already have the OS? Windows 7 official release date is this Thursday. You can also get Windows 7 for $30 if you happen to be a student.

October 20, 2009 10:50:30 PM

Yes, it will run with no issues, it just doesn't quite take full advantage of your hardware.
