Hi all, I ahve been a follower of TH for sometime but am now putting together my PC Build.
APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: 4weeks
SYSTEM USAGE: gaming, ocassional graphics editing, internet etc.
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: hdd's/psu/ram
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: scan.co.uk (good service in the past good prices)
PARTS PREFERENCES: AMD/ATI/MSI/XFX (all suggestions welcome but I have had good luck with these aprts so its a case of stick with what u know!!)
OVERCLOCKING: in the future yes
MONITOR RESOLUTION:1920x1200
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
THe following parts are what I have decided to go with:
That 4890 should take in air at the fan and expel it out the back.
Save some money and get a PhIIx4 955 instead of 965. Almost the same speed for less money and uses less power.
That RAM should work, though the motherboard specs say anything over 1333 requires overclock.
That is an awefully expensive case for only two fans.
Thank you,
I was expecting the RAM May need tweeking but I only paid 40pounds for it as a friend was upgrading his machine.
I should have mentioned the prices in the thread too maybe! The reason I chose th e 965 over the 955 is that there is 10pound difference at the time of writing this, hopefully both CPUS will come down in price in the coming weeks (as with all PC stuff!)
The Lian Li case was chosen because is should be silent! and the added advantage of dust relief! This is currently 80pound at scan!
What other cases can you recomend (Excluding Antec300, it gets too dusty and 3 fan speeds is not enough)
They are both DX10 graphics cards. If you want long term use you should be looking at the new DX11 5000 series like the 5770 or 5850. Unfortunately there isnt currently any DX11 card between those two in price or performance.

Good advice and I have noted this. But I will prob stick with a 48xx for now then in 6 months time sell that and upgrade to a dx11 job...
