Home Network Reccomendations

I'm sure I'm not the first newb to post this question so if someone points me in the right direction I won't be offended.

I'm going to be building a new house in the near future and I'm wondering what everyone's recommendation would be for wiring in my house. Should I just use cat5 through the whole thing? Is anyone wiring w/ fiber optic cable in their homes these days? Not that I have any clue but I want to be prepared for the future since I only get one shot at this deal. Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated. thx

I would not go with fiber optic because all the equipment is very expensive. I would go with CAT 6. CAT 6 does not cost a lot more than CAT 5 but it might save you a lot headache in the future.
