Windows 7 Disk Management Spanned Drives

I have 4 Spanned Drives and another 4 Spanned Drives, both sets of drives are same size.

Question 1) I dont suppose there is a way to turn the second set (which would appear as 1 large virtual drive) into a mirrored drive of the other large virtual drive.

Unfortunately I would be using RAID-5 right now but my Intel Raid on the mobo only recognizes my 3TB drives as being 750GB and I do not want to buy aftermarket controllers.

At this time my only solution is to use a program like Second Copy, which simply reads both drives - compares them then synchronizes them at specific intervals.

Question 2) What happens if one of the drives in the spanned set of 4 drives fails? The others can they be read by the computer?

This sounds like you should reedo your raid array maybe to Raid 1,0 (10) does your board support this raid configuration, not sure what entails without re doing your raid i would just recommend this.

I ended up with a BIOS update not long after that updated the Intel ROM for the ICHR10 RAID controller and now it supports 3TB (yay)
