i have noticed lately that my desktop icons are being duplicated on my desktop, i.e. two icons for games or explorer. Any idea why this is happening? Appreciate any help from anybody.
Thanks

You are either dragging them and copying them, or they are being put into your profile as well as "All Users" which would end up with two copies. Check the properties of the icons and see where they are located.

Just delete them.

Click the shortcut, then hit your delete key, or right-click the icon and select delete. if neither works, scan for viruses/malware.

regedit:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders

* Double-click Desktop and set it to %USERPROFILE%\Desktop
