I have been ordering parts for a new computer and the last part I ordered was the power supply but i didn't notice that the video card i got, the GTX 260, asks for 500w and the power supply i ordered is only 460w would it still work or will I have problems using this power supply?
First thing I notice is only one 6-pin connector. The 260 used two. This is not the end of the world because you can still uses two Molex connectors with the adapter that should have come with the 260, unfortunately the power supply shows 70%+ effeciency, which is of the lower end. What cpu are you running? The lga 1366 i7's are power hogs as are a number of AMD cpu's. Are you going to do RAID?
Here's a link for a calculator, although amps are just as important (probably more) than watts.
a friend of mine helped me pick out the parts to make my computer but he didnt mention anything about the power supply so when i noticed i needed one i just picked one i thought was good im a novice when it comes to a lot of this hardware setup i know a lot of software workings but this is a different world for me T.T so im sry if i keep asking questions.
