Graphics card cooling&Psu ?

Just ordered a new xtx 4890 card. Was wondering if stock cooling fans on a Antec 900 would be good enought to keep the temps at a decent level?

Also the card said min. Psu 500 watt Ihave a 650watt Coolmaster Real power Pro. Will this PSU have trouble running this card?

This was my 1st build and didn't do my home work on the PSU

Any info or opinons welcomed thanks 4 ur time and trouble

Yes and Yes.

The stock cooling fans should be fine. I think you will find your temperatures are comfortable - for a PC - assuming the ambient temperatures are not unreasonable to start with.

The PSU has plenty of power - including 45w on the 12v circuit and it has the two required 6 pin connectors.

The quality of the PSU is not the best - see the link below for rankings. It is in tier 3 and I would prefer to have a PSU from no lower than tier 2. But if I already had the tier 3 I would not replace it unless it became suspect.

i had the coolermaster 650w extreme plus running my 4890. it was failing under load and i had to replace it with a corsair.

so personally, i would not recomend their PSUs. though it SHOULD be enough to run the card. try out something demanding like furmark to make sure your PSU is supplying enough power.

I'm a novice at this stuff. What would be the signs of ur psu failing?

Also is furmark a utility software? I'm running XP if that makes a differince.

Sorry don't really tinker with my pc if it runs my games I usally leave it alone upgradeing drivers is a big deal to me if u know what I mean!

no probs.

a PSU failing will cause your system to shut off. it will reboot fine, but usualyl that means whenever you put too much load on it, it will shutdown.

i found that PSU couldn't supply my 4890 adequately, even though on paper its more than powerful enough.

furmark is freeware, just google it. it puts immense strain on your GPU (more than any real world program ever would) so you can gauge how well its bing supplied by the psu. i wouldnt recommend running it too often though, it causes alot of heat and you don't want to damage your card.

i actually found that all my games ran fine, but MW2 was causing my system to crash. because the GPU wasn't getting enough power. i never thought a console port would be such a power hog, but it is.

You might also check on the total load on your system using a power calculator linked below. The first is a free "lite version" that calculates only the total wattage - including some undisclosed buffer margin. The second is recommended as it also calculates the power for the 3.3, 5 , and 12 volt rails but has a subscription charge ranging from $2 for 3 day access to $10 for lifetime access.

XTX cards seem to run pretty hot. At least my 4870 does. Download GPU-Z to monitor your GPU temps. If they seen pretty high, install a fan in the side panel oriented for intake.

Don't get fixated on brands for PSU's but rtaher ficus on what line within the brand.

The Coolermaster Silent Pro M700W is on SilentPCreview'com's Recommended List same as the Corsair HX series. Jonnyguru gives the 600 Si;lent pro a 9.0 performance rating , a bit higher than the Corsair TX750 which gets an 8.5 Didn't find anything on the Realpower on wither site.

Here's the options for the Antec 900
- 1 side (optional) 120mm fan to cool graphic cards
- 1 middle (optional) 120mm fan to cool CPU or graphic cards

So you might consider adding these for the card
