i recently ran 3D mark vantage and i scored only 3944 on my gpu is this normal for a gtx 285 ?

cpu: 33892
gpu:3944

U may want to elaborate on the system specs and the settings at which u ran 3dmark.....

Yes please post full system specs,also how is your FPS in games ? because 3DMARK isn't as important as your FPS in games

my full specs are

core i7 920
asus p6t
6 gb patriot viper 1600
gtx 285
1 tb HD

3D mark vantage is set at performance settings

when i am playing cod 5 i notice when someone is using a flamethrower or alot of things are going on it drops to about 30-40 fps

Thanks for pasting the specs.....I would say that the scores are more or less OK.....the cod 5 issue u mentioned is only natural since any particle effect applied in games tend eat up more GPU power.....

Well that's not anything unusual,mine is the same too (i have 4870X2) and the reason is as ridic said is the particle effects.
How about other games ? also what resolution do you play at ?
