Install Windows 7 on Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe: no sound

I have just installed Windows 7 on a new/old PC with an Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition motherboard.

Win7 seems to have found most of the necessary drivers (the Internet is working, for example!) but the onboard sound processor isn't working. The speaker icon has a red X and it says no headphones or speakers are plugged in, even though I do have speakers plugged in.

I tried downloading a SoundMAX driver for Vista from the Asus site, but the Setup program says that it does not support my hardware, and it also doesn't recognize Windows 7.

Any suggestions as to how to get my sound working?

PS. I'm new to Windows 7, so please don't assume I know all its intricacies. Thanks!

All I had to do was enable the onboard sound in the mobo BIOS. I'd disabled it years ago because the computer it used to be in had a separate sound card.

PS. Loving Win7 so far!
