Need to upgrade my CPU cooler as I'm currently using a stock cooler and it's terrible. My CPU just recently overheated as I unlocked from 2 to 4 cores. My current board is a M4A87TD EVO and I'm looking for a cooler that is quiet and can prevent the CPU from overheating, but also isn't too pricey. My budget is about £30 as I don't want to spend too much on a cooler. I would also want one that isn't too big because I've noticed that some big cooler would prevent 4 sticks of RAM being installed and I do not want to be limited to 2 sticks. Any suggestions are welcomed, thank you!

EDIT: Currently using a Phenom II X2 560 processor and will core unlock to Phenom II X4 B60. Also using a Thermaltake V3 Black Edition case

How about the CM Hyper 212 or the Corsair CAFA70 both from Newegg?

I heard some good reviews about the Hyper 212, but I was just looking to see if there are any good alternatives. Haven't seen this Corsair before and I might check it out, however, I can't seem to find it from on any UK websites that I've bought from and that are trusted. Would also like to ask you whether the Hyper 212 would fit in my Thermaltake V3 Black Edition case and whether it would block any RAM slots? Thank you!

I know the NZXT Havok 140 is a really good cooler, but not sure if its in your price range. I know its around $60USD not sure what that converts to pounds.

Thanks for the reply, however the cooler you advised is over my price range, the cheapest I can find it on a UK website was £46.

Ahh yes, I've looked at the Hyper 212, however I was unsure whether this would fit in my case or not as the case only fits up to 160mm and this is 159mm which could be quite a tight squeeze, could you confirm if this would fit? Or has anyone had any personal experience with installing a Hyper 212 into a Thermaltake V3?

Yes the 212+ will just fit.
If you have concerns buy a TX-3 instead.

Haha that's fine, I trust you, I think I'll get the 212 EVO then. A bit off topic but is the Freezer 13 from Arctic Cooling any good? And how would it compare to the 212 EVO? Thanks!

I won't guarantee the EVO will fit 1/2mm might be the difference between a fit and not fitting.
The 212+ just fits = can be varified by reading V3 user feedback on Newegg.
CM 212+ has better retention hardware then the AC Freezer 13.
Makes much better contact to cpu.

Sorry my mistake, just checked out the Thermaltake's official website and took a look at the specs for their maximum cooler size and realised it's actually 163mm.

I should be fine with the Hyper 212 EVO I think, but I'll do a few Google searches before deciding between the Plus and the EVO.

Thank you very much for all your help!
