I just got my AMD Phenom IIx4 975, but the heatsink that came with it, SUCKS!!
I need some advice as to what other heatsink I should get for it that will keep it really cool and is compatible with no problems for my processor.
Keeping the budget range around $25-$50.
Hopefully that should be enough for a decent if not better heatsink.

Hope to get some advice soon!

Thank you.

2 good choices in that price range are the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo and the even larger ( and better ) Scythe Mugen 3. Either is a good choice and will allow your Phenom II to overclock to it's max of around 4Ghz.

Some things to consider. Do you have RAM with high profile heatspreaders on it like Corsair Vengance? If so the Hyper 212 will probably fit but not the Scythe.

Make sure your case will handle a big cooler. Most standard cases have no problems but smaller ones might.

If you are on a budget, this is probably one of the best deals that you are going to find:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

$20 after rebate and free shipping.

I cannot vouch for the thermal paste. Maybe someone else can. If not, you can just buy some AS5 and still be within budget :)
