Most of the games that I play that require a lot of rendering, such as Fallout 3, Sims or any game with a huge view usually cause constant stuttering. I'm using a phenom II x4 955 3.2ghz cpu and an ati radeon 4850. The framerate is very high and smooth, but there is still constant stuttering, making the game seem choppy. I'm thinking that maybe it's my ram. I've been using really old 2gb ram from my old computer. If I get 4gb, will the stuttering go away?

It does look like the game is having to go to the hard drive to load textures. When I play L4D2 on W7 64-bit my memory usage goes up to about 2.5GB(from 1.1-.2 at idle). Games with huge view distances make that go up even more.
