I work in a computer repair shop and we've always have had diffculty when trying to image a hard drive of another computer.

There has to be a way that I can remove a hard drive from any computer. Connect it to my pc along with a fresh drive and have it make a perfect bit for bit copy that I can then plug back into the original and have it boot perfectly.

I've been working with a few different image software options (Ghost, Img Burn, Macrium Refeclt) and always run into issues.

Are images BIOS dependent and can only be properly created and restored on the original machine?

What do you recommend is the best way to go about this?

You can try clonezilla, but I don't see why these others wouldn't work. What difficulties are you having?
