4870 power?

Hello my name is Rani and i have a 4870 HD 1GB and i have a 560W power supply want to ask if its enough? and i would like to know if there is any way you can add 2 power supply's to 1 system with out having 2 mother boards LoL : ) ?

In theory you should be able to use 2 power supplies, but I would be hesitant. All the electronics on the computer are connected and I could imagine the possibility of weird things being more likely if your juice is coming from 2 different sources.

Generally speaking a 560w should be able to handle a 4870, but it depends on how many watts are required to drive everything else.

I also have the 4870 (512 ver), C2d OCed to 3.2 GHz, 4 HDDs, and 2 DVD burners and my MAX power consumption is only approx 300 Watts. Any more it is as TheViper said - it is more about the Power available on the +12 V Rails - AND the quality of the PSU.

Concur with kidhorn on using two PSUs in one computer - IT is OK as long as you DO NOT connect PSU1 +12 V1 to the same point as PSU2 +12 V (Same same for other Voltages).
Ex: If you had two power connectors on a GPU card, and you wanted to connect PSU1 to one connector and PSU2 to the other you would need to verify that they are isolated from one another (ie ohms check +12 V on connector 1 to +12 V on connector 2. Grounds pins are OK. (Never parallel PSUs)

As KidHorn said - Not a good Idea. You need to understand a little more electronics as what I said is not so much a question of english - it's more about knowlege of Electronics

The first thing I would do is down load CPUID HWmonitor and take a look at your Voltages at both idle and max load. For mak load you could download furmark and run it. As long as your +12 V does not drop below 11.5 and your +5 V does not drop below 4.78 V under max load your single PSU is fine and you will not gain anything (except the Chance to distroy your MB, and or PSU)

If voltages are dropping, you would be better off getting a new, quality PSU (550 to 650 W range)

Not into gaming - might want to look at some benchmarks rating the different GPUs

1st, do no use 2 PSU's. It's dangerous to you and your system if you are not very familiar with electronics.

2nd, your HD 4870 may just need a driver update. Download and install the newest driver from here:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

I have tested 2 versions of drivers. and i have the newst drivers. but i guess its the Motherboard that has some marks becaue i get the same performence of my ASUS EAH 4870 1GB as the XFX 8800GT XXX edition. i did a new post on motherboards now im serching for a new mother board that supprts Core 2 duo and Quadcore.
