Hi. I wonder if I could ask for some advice. I want to put together a new build for my home office in the next week or so. I have some very specific requirements, and I'd like to know if anyone has advice or knows of any incompatibility I've not noticed!

Basically, it will be a very simple and cheap system, but needs to drive four monitors (properly, as in WDDM support for Vista/7). I'm not into games at all, so all-out performance isn't great, but it needs to be quicker than my existing dell 745 2.4ghz. It also needs to be VERY quiet. Here's the bits I've selected:

Motherboard - ASROCK SKT-AM2 ALIVEXFIRE-ESATA2 R3.0 S/L 2000MT/s
Rather than pricey quad-head graphics card, I figured a cheap SLI-capable board with 2 x PCex16 and a couple of cheap cards would be a better option...

CPU - AMD ATHLON II X2 250 AM3 3.0GHz

RAM - PatriotPC2-6400 C4 Viper Extreme Performance (2x2GB)

Power supply - rasurbo DLP 430W Quiet PSU 4GB (apparently cheap and very quiet)

Case - Lian Li PC-6289 (I think I've had one of these before. Simple alu case)

Graphics - 2 x Asus EN8400GS SILENT/HTP/512M/V2, PCI-E, 512MB DDR2 (seem perfect. Very cheap, crap for games(?) but will drive Vista/7 with aero. Also, fanless!)

Cooler - maybe the bundled retail one, but I was thinking of one of those massive heatpipe fanless ones, if I could get away with it. I'm not one of those people obsessed by cooling, if it runs warm but doesn't actually explode/catch fire, I'm happy :)

I don't need any storage or optical drives. What do you think - is this a sensible part choice? I can purchase of of this for around £250, so it's cheap as chips....!

for psu, you may want to spend a little more and get something of quality (Corsair, seasonic, antec, PC P&C), a bad PSU can destroy your entire computer

as for GPU's, you may want to find ones that have 2 x dvi out (i am assuming you are using 4 lcd panels), some people find that vga to an lcd makes it a bit fuzzy (i know i do)

also, that board can't do sli which is ok because for a 4 monitor setup you don't enable sli (doesn't work)

and yes, those cards, even in sli, can't power todays games, though that doesn't seem much of an issue
