Rivets in my Motherboard?

Hi,

My 6-year-old Dell 530s (yes I know, I bought a prebuilt) computer, with (of course) a proprietary motherboard, case, etc. It's a decent motherboard, but the CPU fan is really loud. The worst part is, there are rivets where the CPU cooler mounting holes should be so I can't install an aftermarket cooler or even a newer version of a default Intel heatsink. Is there any way I can get around this? Any help is appreciated.

very carefully use a drillbit to drill through the rivets, although I'm certain they should be pushpins, not rivets
can't you just unscrew the fan?
post a pic if you can for us
