Can't overclock my HD 6950

Hey guys, I bought a Sapphire HD 6950 2GB a while ago and have attempted to overclock it.

First I used the AMD Overdrive located in the CCC, but every time I restart my computer, the overclock resets itself to default values. I then used MSI Afterburner, but every time I applied and exited the program, the values reset themselves.

Is there something I'm missing here? Am I supposed to "unlock" the card or something? Thanks for the help.

Problem is that, first of all, I'm not even sure if it overclocks it or not. Sure, the values change, but I'm certain.
Secondly, I don't want to mess with the settings every time I boot up my computer.

Just overclock and apply the setting and start it with windows... Just play games like MW3 or something similar and look at afterburner see if the clock are high up on core clock or mem clock
