None of this works for me. I can preview article just fine but when
I hit print command, the computer crashes. Test page prints
without hesitation so it cannot be the printer but something
causing the computer to crash.
Thank you for your expert input.

Take a look in event viewer for error at time of printing.
Also check device manager for print driver error

Last case, Uninstall printer / Reinstall

Thanks you the reply. Checked out the error log and it stated I had lost the
lease of IP address and an installation failure of updates. Have no earthly
reason of why. Then several Service Control Manager inputs with mention of
"The specified module could not be found". I do recall the computer stating
certain updates could not be installed. Also, mentions of clock not being
synchronized, as daily I would have to manually update the time and date.
This is all Greek to me. Any idea how to rectify the situation.
Sorry to be a bother.

What is the date / time set to on your computer and is the setting checked to synchronize it to the internet server ? Computer clocks will lose x amount of time (hrs) over a period of a week. Go to Control Panel > Date & Time.
Click each Tab, date/time - Time zone - Internet Time. And make sure settings are correct. Make sure box is checked to synch to internet server in the Internet Time Tab. You can also click "update now" button to get immediate update.

How to display date/time in task bar.

Hello ksiemb,

Thank you again for the reply.. Have been working on your suggestions but none
have undone the dirty deed. The clock was already in sync with the internet
and the printer will not follow thru and Microsoft updates will not install. Tried
contacting Microsoft Support but the page would not cooperate. Can a virus
cause these sorts of problems?

You have been supper.

For the Windows Update problem, try this fix.

Start > Run > regsvr32 wuaueng.dll

And yes, among other things, an infection can cause Windows update to cease. With respect to the printer, if an uninstall - reinstall of the printer does not cure the issue, and changing the USB port yields no solution, download a service manual / user manual and check out trouble shooting. Also check in device manager (show hidden devices) from the view menu to see if any errors reported for the printer - or "other devices" listed.
