Connect the external drive to your computer. It must be initialized before use.

Go to Control Panel ---> Administrative Tools ---> Computer Management ---> Disk Drives.

Select and highlight the new external drive and do an NTFS format. Unplug the external drive. Re-start the computer. The new external drive will show up and will be ready for use. You will notice Win 7 installing the appropriate driver.
