I recently purchased the Palit GTS 250 512 MB. My system config is

intel DG33tl motherboard
E6750 Processor
4 GB 800 MHZ DDR2 Transcend RAM
CoolerMaster 550W PSU

I have observed that the since the installation of the Graphic card, i see that my overall system performance is degraded, my other applications like Photoshop works slow. funnily the games all work perfectly without any issues.

I see CPU hitting around 50 whenever i launch any application and it works slow. I have clean installed Vista 32bit and tested and still the same thing. I have removed the Graphic card and used the onboard video and didnt see the issue.

I am not sure what exactly is happening.

Only thing I can think of is that its the fact that you're running 32 bit vista. Adding more vRAM will deduct from the amount of RAM available to your system. Adding that graphics card effectively reduces that amount of RAM you have by 512mb.

thats true, the useable RAM gets reduced. but it still has a gig and half free. I am wondering can it be a PSU issue, because it has two 12V rails with 17A on each.

Photoshop is very memory intensive which leads to the logical conclusion given above. If you only have 2GB of RAM Vista doesn't run that great anyways. Have you considered Windows 7?

Because thats two completely different things. Photoshop is almost completely CPU and memory based, and can be run with almost any graphics card.

Gaming has in general more of a focus on the graphics card and a solid cpu/ram combo.
