1600 x 900 Screen slight problem

I have just bought a 1600 x 900 resolution screen.

Slight problem I have is that the maximum resolution (apparently) supported by my PC is 1400x900. I am not going to be using the computer for gaming but I am using it to watch DVD's on. So have the annoying black lines on the screen.

Is there any way I can make my computer support the last 200 using the existing internal motherboard graphics or is it time for a new graphics card.

If it is time for a new graphics card can anyone suggest one? Ideally as cheap as possible as I am not gaming but just want one to support the 1600x900 resolution.

Thanks

  1. I don't know what integrated video card you have. Try going to the manufacturer's site and look for an updated driver.

Additionally, download a program called CPU-Z just to determine if you have an AGP port or a PCI-e port.
