No current 5870 is 9 inches long. Check your facts or you'll find yourself buying a new case. I think you're talking about the 5850... and if that is the case, then yes... those 2 power connectors are on the end. For me those two cables just extended into my drive cage... nothing major. A 5850 should fit in MOST any mid-size case... the 5870? Some mids will accommodate it, but a lot won't. My CoolerMaster Scout would not have held a 5870 without some "modifications" I opted for the 5850... that was plenty for my needs.

Now on to your question: Yes. I'm currently testing a GTX 285, which is similar in size, and it fits into a mid-tower

The power connectors are on the top edge of the board, not at the end so they don't protrude out extending the cards overall length.

The 5850 can fit a mid size case, however dimensions for mid size cases varies and the power connections on the HD 5850 is at the end, not the top, of the video card.

I currently have a HD 5850 in a Coolmaster Centurion mid size ATX case. Can't remember the exact model number.

thanks, I was talking about 5850 and you answered my question

If you list your specific case, someone could confirm that it'll fit. The 5850 really is a sweet card if you can find one... and although I haven't pushed mine, all indications are that they overclock easily (if that's what you're into)

If a 5870 fits in my mid-size case, a 5850 will fit in yours. The 5850 is the same size as a 4850/4870/4890. If that helps.

Thanks, I currently have 2-4850s in cossfire and want to upgrade. The 5870 with power connecter would hit the hard drive bay. I think I will put two 5850 or 5770 in there.

I now have 2 4850 cards and want to upgrade to one single card or 2 cards in crossfire. The 4870 would hit my hard drive bay and I dont thing that is good. I have the velocity micro case.

Holy crap why is that case so expensive? My CoolerMaster Scout with 3 fans was $89 shipped.

Either the pictures are all flipped or they have the motherboard mount on the left interior side instead of the standard right side.
