3.6 is all i get out of it with stock cooling and stock voltage.....any voltage reccomendations for it? right now according to cpu-z its voltage is at 1.120V....
and i only have a 500W cooler master lite ps, so is that enough for overclocking further?
my 4870 is also overclocked, running at 850 core and 1050 memory.....is my ps going to struggle if i overclock my cpu into the 4Ghz mark?
Get an aftermarket cooler and increase the stock voltage. The "stock voltage range" is up to 1.36v...and it's generally considered safe if you keep it not too far above 1.4v
I have an E5300 @ 2.6GHz ---> 3.6GHz with 1.32v
Try increasing your voltage to 1.26 or 1.3 or so and set it to 4GHz
i also have a E6300 at stock speeds and a XFX 4890. i heard that my CPU is a huge bottleneck for gfx card. do you thing that if i overclock my CPU i will get a big performance boost?
Your CPU is not a huge bottleneck. You have a minor bottleneck, but it can easily be solved with an overclock. (look at my Tomshardware link in the 2nd post to compare E6300 + 4890 bottlenecks). Overclock several hundred mhz and you should be good to go. Th E6300 can reach 4GHz and over without much difficulties.
