hi i recentrly bought a dell insiron 546 which has the AMD 780G chipset and onboard graphics card, the ATI Radeon HD 3200

i heard i can beef up the performance with a HD3450 discrete card (which i happen to have lying around)

so is it a simple as slotting it in and downloading dirvers or is it infinitly more complicated?

ps. im also thinking about upgrading ram as well but i need to find out what PC(X)- number will fit in this motherboard

thx in advance

It's about that easy, at least with two discrete cards. I've never tried a onboard plus discrete but I imagine its easy.

Really? I never managed to figure out how to CF my onboard 3200(780g) with my 4870, although admittedly given the additional performance I'd get, I definately didn't try too hard.

Check out the BIOS in your machine and see if it has a setting to use the installed video card in preference to the MB integrated graphics. :sol:
